Japanese short stories
So far this boook has been rather interesting. The first story I read was called Sansho the Steward and it was about a mother her two children and their nanny. The family is traveling across China to go find the father of the family that left a couple of years ago and had never returned. As if that was not sad enough the family ends up getting seperated by slave traders. I felt so bad for the kids when this happened it made me want to cry. The family getting seperated remined me of the video clip we saw on slave trading. It also reminded me of the movie Taken, which is about a slave ring. It was amazing how the two kids were able to survive on their own at the kings mansion. It was really sad when the girl Anju decided to stay behind when she hellped her brother Zushio escape. It was really creepy how at the end of the story the boy ended up finding his mother again after so many years of looking for her. It just goes to show that no matter what you can always come back to your family. This story was very cute and I enjoyed it a lot.

Glad you like the book (so far), Sansho the Steward sounds interesting. Too bad about the slave traders. That would be hard on any family to be split apart like that.
You should really read the book Sold (Cate Davis read it) which is very touching about a little girl who gets dealt to human traffickers. You would like it I think, and it is a fast read.
The fact that the boy finds his slave mother again, reminds me of Star Wars Episode II. :-) That's nice that he never gave up hope of finding her again.
